Three Durant teenagers injured in accident northwest of Durant

••• Update: Although the names of those involved in the accident have not been released as they are juveniles, multiple sources have confirmed the boys attend Silo High School.

DURANT – Two teenagers were transported by Air Evac following an accident near Folsom Road at around 4:30 on Monday afternoon.

A 16-year-old male, of Durant, was driving a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee westbound on Folsom Road  and swerved right to miss an oncoming vehicle, overcorrected causing him to go off the right side of the roadway, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The vehicle struck an embankment causing it to overturn three times.

A passenger, a 16-year-old male of Durant, was ejected approximately 3 feet from the vehicle. A second passenger, another 16-year-old male of Durant, was partially ejected from the vehicle

Both passengers were flown to Plano Medical Center in Plano, Texas and each was admitted in stable condition with head, trunk, internal, external, arm, and leg injuries.

The driver was transported from the scene to Texoma Medical Center in Denison in stable condition with trunk, internal, arm, and leg injuries .

Seatbelts were equipped and in use by the driver, but not the passengers, according to the report. Airbags were equipped but did not deploy.

The OHP was assisted in the investigation by the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office, Durant Fire Department, Bryan County EMS, and Air Evac .
