Texoma group to host annual Community Behavioral Health Conference

DENISON, Texas – The Texoma Behavioral Health Leadership Team (TBHLT) of Grayson County is hosting the third annual Community Behavioral Health Conference (CBHC) in memory of Dr. Don Rodgers.

CBHC 2019​ is an opportunity for community members, healthcare workers, and law enforcement to meet together to support one another, network, and work to strengthen the mental health journey in Grayson County. This is an event for licensed professional counselors, licensed social workers, educators, health care, legal, law enforcement, private industry, policy makers, anyone who has a loved one with mental health needs and anyone who is interested in bringing positive change to Grayson County.

It will take place on Feb. 28 from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Texoma Event Center Hilton Garden Inn located at 5015 U.S. Highway 75 in Denison.

The event will feature a panel discussing “Mental Health and Faith” – moderated by Austin College’s Rev. Dr. John Williams and featuring Rev. Chris Dowd from First United Methodist Church, Dr. Bharathy Sundaram from Texoma Neurology Associates and Dr. Randal Unsell from TMC Behavioral Health Center.

Our keynote speaker will be ​Candy Finnigan,​ author, interventionist and recovery addiction specialist regularly seen on A&E’s Intervention. She has been active in different areas of recovery for more than 25 years. A member of the Association of Intervention Specialists, a certified Master Addiction Counselor III and a Board Registered Interventionist II, Candy has the passion, love and qualifications needed to help those on the path to recovery.

• Dan Powers​ from the Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center will also be present and speaking about “Child Abuse, Mental Health and Hope.”

• Vanita Halliburton​ from the Grant Halliburton Foundation will be with us and speaking on “The Struggle is Real: Youth Depression and Suicide.”
