Smokey “Ruby” Hunnicutt

Smokey “Ruby” Hunnicutt a loving mother, grandma, sister and beloved friend left this earthly life Friday, March 8, 2019 in Durant, Okla. at the age of 87. She was born in Finchtown, Okla. on July 21, 1931 to James Allen Trantham and Nancy Ellen (Millender) Trantham. Smokey married Warren Lee Hunnicutt on March 5, 1954 in Carlsbad, N.M.

Smokey was a nurse for more than 30 years at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. She was a faithful charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mead, Okla. Smokey enjoyed doing crosswords, drinking her black coffee, and playing solitaire. She enjoyed cooking for any event at the church along with teaching the grandkids how to cook. She loved her family very much! Her pride and joy were getting the name Big Momma and KiKi, from her grandkids.

Mrs. Hunnicutt is survived by her daughters: Brenda Rowland and husband Tommy of Brown, Okla., Susan Hunnicutt of Tulsa, Okla., and Kandy Hunnicutt of Mead, Okla.; son: Larry Hunnicutt and wife Pat of Colbert, Okla.; grandchildren: Bradley Rowland and wife Cami of Brown, Okla., Lindsey Lowery and husband Jason of Durant, Okla. Warren Hunnicutt of Midland, Texas, Sasha Walker and husband Clayton of Bixby, Okla., Mika Russell and husband Justin of Mead, Okla., Cassidy Balentine and wife Cejae of Roberta, Okla., Tanner Balentine and wife Roxy of Manview, Okla., Katey McAdams and husband Aaron of Brown, Okla., Luke Balentine of Mead, Okla., Bo Balentine of Mead, Okla., Jacin Lauglin of Mead, Okla., Terri Hunnicutt of Colbert, Okla., and Pam Hunnicutt of Colbert, Okla.; 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Glenda Stilwell of Malveron, Ark.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Mrs. Hunnicutt is preceded in death by her parents, James Allen Trantham and Nancy Ellen (Millender) Trantham; husband, Warren Lee Hunnicutt; son, Tommy Allen Hunnicutt; step-Son, Jerold Hunnicutt; sisters: Annalee Trantham, Barbara Jean Wesner and Best friend Sis Hull.

Family hour will be held on Wednesday 6-8 p.m., March 13, 2019 at Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Okla. A celebration of Smokey’s life will be Thursday 2 p.m., March 14, 2019 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mead, Okla. with Brother Randy Lewis officiating.

Following will be a burial at Highland Cemetery in Durant, Okla. with Bradley Rowland, Tanner Balentine, Luke Balentine, Bo Balentine, Jason Lowery, and Justin Russell serving as pallbearers. Also, Larry Hunnicutt, Tommy Rowland, Warren Hunnicutt, Clayton Walker, Cassidy Balentine and Aaron McAdams serving as honorary pallbearers.

Smokey’s services are under the direction of Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Okla.
