Seven hit by vehicle in Sherman, one taken to hospital

SHERMAN, Texas – Driver error has been determined to be the cause of an out-of-control vehicle which hit seven people at the Hot Summer Nights annual free concert series in Sherman on Thursday evening.

The Sherman Police department issued a press release following the incident.

On June 13, 2019 at approx 8:20pm, multiple pedestrians were struck by a vehicle at the Hot Summer Nights event located at the Sherman Municipal Grounds.

A white Hyundai SUV struck seven people while backing from a parking space near the Municipal Building on Rusk Street. Intoxication was not a factor in the crash. The cause was determined to be driver error. The elderly driver failed to put the vehicle into drive after backing from a parking space, and then reversed further into the pedestrians.
