Double fatality wreck as semi goes off Roosevelt Bridge

A two-vehicle accident happened at about 1:50 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, on U.S. Highway 70 on the Roosevelt Bridge 4.9 miles west of Mead in Bryan County.

A 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier collided with a 2015 Volvo Semi. The driver of the Cavalier was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Brown’s Funeral Home in Durant. The identification is pending the Medical Examiner’s investigation.

The identification of the driver of the semi is pending investigation and recovery from Lake Texoma.

Troopers  are on scene of a double fatality collision involving a vehicle and commercial vehicle on U.S. Highway 70 and the Roosevelt Bridge in Bryan County. The bridge is closed due to the vehicle on fire and the commercial vehicle that is submerged in Lake Texoma.

The Roosevelt Bridge will be closed  for an undetermined  amount of  time.  DOT is on scene and all traffic is being detoured to State Highway 78.

DEQ and Texoma  Hazmat has been advised.


A two-vehicle accident caused a semi to go into Lake Texoma, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Roosevelt Bridge on U.S. Highway 70 in Bryan County is closed due to the accident.

One vehicle was on fire on the bridge and the other went into the lake.
