The Durant Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed Round Top Grill to the Chamber with a ribbon cutting on Thursday.
Round Top Grill operates out of the REI Oklahoma commercial kitchen located at 2912 Enterprise Blvd, Suite D in Durant and is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
In addition to their space at REI, they have a mobile food truck as well as offer specialized catering to all types of events, meetings, weddings, reunions and more. The cuisine is described as “southern-Asian-fusion” by owners Nick and Stephanie Burton, while offering a variety of dishes and special items throughout the week.
Nick said he draws from his varied experience for his current venture.
“I worked as a chef at the casino,” Burton said. “I’ve done Japanese steakhouses, private universities and worked with a lot of different cultures from around the world and been fortunate to take a little bit from every one. And I’ve ended up here in southeastern Oklahoma where we love ‘meat and taters.’
“So we’re doing a fusion thing because everyone loves the Asian food around here and we have the meat and potatoes, too. We’re doing a fresh new food that hasn’t been done around here and all the good stuff.”
Burton also said his family has stepped out to take a chance to make something happen.
“Basically, we jumped off a cliff, just like the Steve Harvey thing, and got past the fears of failing in opening a business and we’ve done it and our parachutes opened on the jump,” Burton said. “And now we’re trying to build this business.
“We’d just like everybody to come out and enjoy what we have to offer in our Asian and American foods and everything else we have going on.”
