Brian Silver

Brian Silver of Calera passed from this life on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018 at the age of 62. He was born on Wednesday, October 5, 1955 in Muskogee, Okla.

He married Julia Kay Riddle on November 23, 1984 in Durant, Okla. He was preceded in death by his parents Wayne H. and Dorothy (Scott) Silver; sister Carol Darby and husband Cecil and aunt Betty McDonald. He is survived by his wife, Kay of the home; son David Buchanan and wife Malissa of Calera, Okla; daughter Stacie Turner and husband James of Calera; grandsons Slader Turner and wife Allyson of Calera, Blake Buchanan of Calera, Ean Turner of Calera; granddaugher Alicea Turner of College Park, Md.; great grandson Rayden Turner of Calera; great granddaughter Ava Turner of Calera;  numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

He was a member of the First Christian Church, Delta Chi Fraternity, Bryan County Reserves, Boy Scouts Pack 618 and the Elks Lodge. He received the Boy Scouts Order of Arrow. He did student teaching in Durant and Calera. He enjoyed bowling, duck hunting, and golfing. He was an avid OU Fan as he enjoyed watching sports, but most of all he loved being with family.

Rev. Andy Shelton will be officiating. Bobby Story, Keith Story, Steven Schulze, Dennis Naifeh, Mark Estus and John Taylor will be serving as pallbearers. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018 at the First Christian Church in Durant, followed by a graveside interment at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera.

Family hour will be held from 6-7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 19, at Gordon Funeral Home, 221 N. Third Ave., Durant – (580) 916-9090 – www.gordonfh.com.
