Martha Ann Latham

Martha Ann (Myers) Latham, 81, passed away on Friday, Aug. 23, 2019 at her home in Durant. She was born on Dec. 26, 1937 in Buffalo, Texas to Oliver Wesley Myers Jr. and Alma Eugenia (Saylor) Myers.

She graduated from Grandbury High School in Grandbury, Texas, then attended North Texas University and Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Ann married James Harris Latham on Dec. 22, 1957. They came to Bryan County in 1959 from Denton County, Texas. She was a member of the American Library Association, Faculty Dames, Fortnightly, and the P.E.O. She was also a member of the Durant Church of Christ. Ann enjoyed reading, cooking/baking, cake decorating, and traveling.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Thomas W. Myers, and son James Jeffery Latham.

Ann is survived by her husband James Latham of the home; two daughters, Lori Lynn Latham and Dana Kay Latham both of Durant; granddaughter, Loryn Wesley Pierce of Dallas, Texas; three grandsons: Nathan Paul Pierce and wife Cici of Dallas, Texas, Justin Garrett Latham of Ada, Okla., and Aaron Rels Salazar Latham of Durant, Okla.; great-granddaughter, Aria Lynn Yates, and great-grandson, George Ashton Pierce both of Dallas, Texas; sister, Carolyn Mae Gillen and husband Tommy of Grand Prairie, Texas and brother Gene Oliver “Rusty” Myers of Shreveport, La.

Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel in Durant.

In lieu of flowers the family asked that donations be made to the Pettijohn Springs Christian Camp, Durant Church of Christ-Mission, or the Durant Church of Christ – building fund.
