Gene O. Smith, 93 of Bokchito, Okla. passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018 in Denison, Texas He was born on Sept. 18, 1925 in Bokchito, Okla. to Sonie Vern and Ruth (Colwell) Smith.
Gene lived most of his life in Bryan County. He married the love of his life Ruby Charlyne Marlow on July 25, 1942 in Bokchito and had 76 wonderful years together. He was a truck driver for 50-plus years and after retiring he was a bus driver for a few years for Rock Creek Schools. He enjoyed traveling, ranching, fishing, spending time with family, and loved to go on motorcycle rides.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents Sonie Vern and Ruth Smith, sons Dannye Gene Smith and Terry Dale Smith, brothers; Jake Smith, Sonie Vern Smith, Jr., and David “Doc” Smith, and sister Ruby Williams.
Gene is survived by his wife Ruby Charlyne Smith of the home, grandson Andy Smith and wife Melanie of Mead, Okla., granddaughters; Shannon Andrews and husband Jason of Springfield, Ore. and DeVynna Blackwelder and husband Justin of Edmond, Okla., great-grandsons Blake Smith of Broken Arrow, Okla. and Cade Andrews of Stillwater, Okla., great granddaughters; Brooke Brooks of Durant, Okla., Terry Baleigh Andrews of Springfield, Ore., Ava and Sophie Blackwelder of Edmond, Okla., and two great great grandchildren Brinlee and Brevyn Brooks both of Durant, Okla., daughter in law Gayla Dickson and husband Raymond of Boswell, Okla., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Bokchito, Okla. Bro John Frank will be conducting the service with interment to follow at Bokchito Cemetery. Family hour will be Friday, Dec. 28, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel.
