Dr. Paula Platter

Dr. Paula Leone (Peterson) Platter was born December 27, 1933, to E.O.T. Peterson and Vivian (Pat) Lesher Peterson in Houston, Texas. She passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019, in Denison, Texas.

Paula married Allen Andrew Platter in 1952. They spent the majority of their married lives in Durant where she achieved a successful career as a professor of mathematics at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Paula had a passion for quilting and was known for her award-winning show quilts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Pat Peterson, and husband Allen Platter.

She is survived by her daughter Candy Horsley and significant other Mike Morris of Durant, her son Lance Platter and wife Deborah of Mead; granddaughter Danni Springfield and husband Travis of San Antonio, Texas, and grandson Drew Horsley of Spring, Texas; and five great grandchildren, Michael, Colt, Cohen, Mike and Avery.

A celebration of Paula’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 515 W. Beech in Durant, followed by a luncheon reception.
