Deane McClure

Deane McClure, loving mother and grandmother, passed away Wednesday Dec. 19, 2018 in Durant, Okla. at the age of 89. “Deane” as she was affectionately called spent most of her life in Bryan County, Oklahoma. Deane was born to Robert McDonald Earnest and Lizzie May Pickens on June 25, 1929. Robert died shortly before her birth and she was raised by her mother and LA Eddins.

Deane held many positions as a farmer’s wife, from loving wife to the hard-working field hand that she was. She loved the land and she loved the Lord for letting her use her hands in the soil. It was like therapy to her. She was a strong community minded individual. Her love for the Cobb and Brown Community was ever-present in her decades of service. She also was a loved and respected member of the Brown Baptist Church. Perhaps most importantly, she guided her entire family to worship and love God. She was and still is the backbone of the family. We thank God for her, and she will be missed, always.

Deane is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Jane Dills and husband Gary of Cobb, Okla. Sons: Robert “Bob” McClure and wife Carrie of Cobb, Okla., and Tim D. McClure and wife Sheila of Hendrix, Okla. Son-in-law, Bruce McLaughlin of Cobb, Okla. Granddaughters: Janine Dills, Kendra Sullivan, Lindsay Hall and husband John. Grandsons: Drew McClure and wife Nicoletta, Paul McLaughlin and wife Amanda, Mason McClure and wife Kaci, Joe McClure, Lucas McClure, and Elijah McClure. Great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Trever, Katelynn , Karson, Jake, Grant, and Owen. Sister-in-laws: Mildred Eddins of Durant, Okla., and Sue McClure of Lubbock, Texas. Brother-in-law, Charles Watson of Ardmore, Okla. Also, Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Deane is preceded in death by her parents: Robert McDonald Earnest, Lizzie May Pickens and LA Eddins. Husband, Joe Kenneth McClure, son, Joe “Kenny” McClure, daughter, RebaDeane McLaughlin, brother, Gomer Eddins, and sister, Beulah Watson.

Family hour for Deane McClure will be Friday, Dec. 21, 2018 at 7-8 p.m. at Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Okla. Service will be on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Brown Baptist Church in Brown, Okla. with Bro. Dale Ballard officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery with grandsons and granddaughters serving as pallbearers.
