Class 2A basketball teams learn district assignments

BRYAN COUNTY – Silo will head northeast, Calera goes farther northeast and the remaining Class 2A teams in Bryan County will stay in county for the district playoffs.

The OSSAA released the 2018 district assignments for Classes 4A, 3A and 2A on Friday, listing the teams for each district and the host school for the opening round of the 2018 high school basketball playoffs. All of the county’s Class 2A teams are in Area IV.

Silo will travel up Highway 69/75 to Pittsburg County to play in District 3 at Savanna. Gore is also in the district. Savanna’s girls are ranked No. 13 in the state in 2A and the boys are No. 17.

Calera heads up to the far northeast corner of Pittsburg County to Quinton for District 8. Panama is also is this district.

District 6 will play in Rock Creek and is comprised entirely of Bryan County teams. Along with the Mustangs, Caddo and Colbert will be competing to take a district title. Rock Creek’ boys are currently ranked No. 12 in 2A.

Brackets will be released later. All district games will be played Feb. 16 and 17.
