Bob Easter

Bob J. Easter passed away from this life in Durant, Okla. on April 2, 2019 at the age of 92 years and 10 months.

He was born Wednesday, May 26, 1926 in Yowell, Texas to Modena McFarland Easter and M.C. Easter. Modena passed away when Bob was 4 years old. Bob moved with his parents M.C. and Ora Lee Easter to Bokchito, Okla. from Texas.

Bob met Martha Lou Marshall during their high school years. They married June 16, 1944, in Atoka, Okla., prior to his leaving in December of that year for service in WWII. They have been married 74 years.

He worked with the family business for 60 years from age 10 to retirement, except for the two years spent in service during WWII.

Bob was a Bokchito Lions Club member and past president. Honorary Chapter Farmer Degree 1986-87 and Honorary State FFA Degree. International Harvester Dealership 1953-87. 1996 Bokchito Homecoming Pioneer Award. Lifetime Membership of American Legion and Lifetime member of the Bokchito VFW. Perpetual 32-degree Mason and Scottish Rite Freemasonry Life member. Bokchito Volunteer Fireman and former Chief, recognized on the Oklahoma Fire Fighters Museum wall in OKC.

He was a longtime rancher and a volunteer for the Bokchito Civic Cemetery. He and Martha Lou have owned and operated a Storage facility since 1983. Bob accepted, after being asked and honored by the VA, to receive his delayed 1945 High School Diploma, along with the 2002 Bokchito Graduating Class.

He was preceded in death by his parents, second mother, Ora Lee Easter, sister Mitzie Easter Harp, brother-in-law Billy W Smith and sister-in-law Billie J Easter.

Bob is survived by his wife Martha Lou; son Bob (Jim) Easter and wife Karen, Fort Worth, Texas; daughter, Dena Easter McIntire and husband Gary, Bokchito, Okla.; daughter, Lou Ann Easter Chumbley, Oklahoma City, Okla.; nine grandchildren, Holly Fitzgerald and husband Joey, Minco, Okla., Mark Easter and wife Sandra, Independence, Kan., Kelly Allender and husband Tony, Houston, Texas, Abe Oliver and wife Lynda, Edmond, Okla., Gary B McIntire and wife Shannon, Kingwood, Texas, Phillip Easter, McKinney, Texas, and Kristin Easter, Fort Worth, Texas; brother, Jerry Easter, Denison, TX. and sister O. Jean Smith of Bokchito, Okla.; 13 great-grandchildren: Hollis, Hank, Marshall, Thomas, Avery, Harris, Lyndi, Hannah, Arianna, Lindsey, Ashley, Jacob and Justin; one aunt, four nieces, five nephews and five cousins.

Family hour will be at the Holmes-Coffee-Murray Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 5. A funeral service will be at the Bokchito First Baptist Church, 202 Edens Street, Saturday, April 6, at 2 p.m., with Preston Burns and Anthony Williams officiating. Bob’s grandchildren will serve as pall barriers. Internment will be in the Bokchito Civic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Bokchito Civic Cemetery, PO Box 301, Bokchito, OK 74726.
