Bennington too much for Coleman in Calera Tournament

CALERA – Every one of the Bennington batters who came to the plate against Coleman on Friday afternoon scored – many of more than once.

The Lady Bears easily handled the Lady Wildcats in the Calera Tournament, 18-0, moving to 2-2 in pool play in the event.

Lindsay Witt’s inside-the-park home run was a highlight for Bennington on the afternoon. Witt liner into left brought in three runs, part of a seven-run frame.

Bennington put 11 more on the board in the second inning.

Alexis Gibson struck out three and gave up only one hit through 3.0 innings pitched and picked up the win in the time limited contest.

Megan Rudder and Carly Russell each had a pair of RBIs.

Bennington will take on Madill on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the final pool play game.
