We always want to take a positive approach, and at the same time know that news is not always positive.

JoeyPsuedoHeadshot2013AJoey McWilliams lives in Durant. He founded and provides the bulk of the content for the Patriot.  He is a long-time sports journalist, having covered sports via radio, newspaper, television and the Internet since 2000.  Joey was the color analyst for the Southeastern Savage Storm football and basketball teams from 2001-2011 and again in 2015-2017.  He has also done play-by-play for Southeastern volleyball, basketball, softball and baseball on radio and streaming Internet video and high school sports for Mix96.1 and the Southeastern Sports Network in Durant.  He can also be seen as the play-by-play voice on GAC Sports Network for the Great American Conference.
Joey is an alum of both Southeastern Oklahoma State University (1993) and Oklahoma State University (2012).  He completed his second bachelor’s degree, a journalism/broadcasting degree at OSU in sports media. He earned first place in the television sports play-by-play category in the 2012 OAB/OBEA competition. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in sports administration and is a graduate assistant in the communications department at Southeastern.
Joey has also broadcast many high school games in Oklahoma and broadcasts for Arkansas PBS Sports, as well.
He coached high school girls and boys basketball for seven years and high school football for one season at Victory Life Academy.
Joey is married to the love of his life, Jodi, and will celebrate 30 years of marriage in October 2023.  They have five beautiful children: Jacelyn, Jenna, Jayla, Jolie and Jake.
Jacelyn is married to Jeremy Woods – the couple lives and works in Durant and has one daughter, Jayleigh, and a son, Jasper. Jenna is a graduate of Oklahoma City University, a two-time national champion with the Pom Squad and a two-time NAIA All-American, and is married to Ben Hild and they reside in Oklahoma City. Jayla is a recent graduate of Durant High School and will be attending Missouri State University in the fall. Jolie and Jake are 16 years old and are juniors at DHS.

Joey also owns OklahomaSports.Net, Midwest Sports Net, Southeast Sports Net and a number of other sports sites. He owns the Midwest Sports Net YouTube channel. (Please subscribe.) He is a former journalism teacher at Durant High School.
